As a kid, I spent every weekend in Amsterdam's zoo to draw and paint the animals. After studying biology at the University of Amsterdam and being a freelance graphic and web designer in San Francisco, I combined my passion for nature and the visual arts once again by photographing the Bay Area's surprisingly diverse and colorful wildlife.
Being in an urban environment brings about unique challenges and opportunities for a wildlife photographer. There is a whole world unfolding right under our noses without most of us being aware of its existence. It's challenging to see up close how a society disconnected from nature tends to ignore or mistreat the little patches of diversity that have managed to survive. I see it as part of my mission to create awareness about the impact that our ever-increasing population has on the world around us.
Besides wildlife photography, I do portrait work and event photography. I invite you to explore the different galleries on this site and hope you enjoy my work. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in booking a portrait session or are looking for a photographer for your next event.
